Graphics

In Year Eight Graphics, students will learn how to create computer generated drawings using CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) software. Basic graphical and design processes and principles will be introduced with practical applications.

Students develop their knowledge in three design areas: Graphic Design, Product Design and The Built Environment.

Studying Graphics gives students the opportunity to participate in designing items which can give glory to God. They begin to understand God as the Master Designer – His attention to detail, His creative genius, His ability to incorporate the aesthetic into His designs. Above all, students begin to understand that God created all He did for humans to enjoy and marvel at the works of His hands.

Years Nine and Ten Graphics is about solving design problems and presenting solutions graphically. Students use design processes to identify and explore the design needs or opportunities of target audiences; research, generate and develop ideas; and produce and evaluate graphical solutions. Students solve graphical problems in three design areas: built environment (buildings), industrial design (machines) and graphic design (marketing).

Students learn how to implement their faith into both the private and the public spheres by undertaking design projects and applying the Christian truths to the design process. Specifically, students learn about sustainability in design and God’s charge to humankind to be stewards of the earth, and applying aerodynamics to enjoy the perfection of God’s good creation.

Students undertaking Graphics need some basic understandings of 3D shapes and design processes.

Senior High Graphics is about solving design problems and presenting solutions graphically. Students use design processes to identify and explore the design needs or opportunities of target audiences; research, generate and develop ideas; and produce and evaluate graphical solutions. Students solve graphical problems in three design areas: industrial design, graphic design and built environment.
