Students in Furnishing Technology have the unique opportunity to imagine, investigate, design and create a variety of work-pieces over a two-year-cycle. Students are encouraged to view the resources of the world through a designing eye and to use them responsibly to cater for the needs of people with respect to furnishing.
As people who are made in the image of a God of wonder and beauty who creates things of wonder and beauty, so should students be encouraged to strive for beauty and function in their own creations. In Furnishing Technology, students are encouraged to imagine, investigate, design and create both for enjoyment and for producing functional furniture to be admired and used within the community.
Furnishing Technology is beneficial to students considering careers such as builder, cabinetmaker, picture framer, furnishing design and wood machinist.
Students are expected to commit a portion of their own time outside of normal school hours to complete practical and theory projects and participate in industry visits.
