Overview of Primary

At Toowoomba Christian College, we believe learning is interconnected; the foundation that is developed in the early years of schooling is essential to the formation of self-aware and critical thinking students in later years, who desire to grow in wisdom and understanding.

Key traits of our Primary learning approach include:

  • Christian Worldview
  • Exposure to knowledge, vocabulary and ideas
  • Play-based Learning & Hands-On Learning Experiences
  • Repetition and Memorisation through songs, chants and jingles
  • Enhancing natural wonder and curiosity
  • Time to think, discuss and reflect on learning

As a Christian school in the Liberal Arts tradition, our Primary curriculum is focused on helping nurture the natural wonder and awe of each child as they regard God’s created world. Our goal is to foster a love of learning, and to guide each child as they observe, explore and inquire about the world around them.

Across the Primary years, our focus is on building a foundation of knowledge that students can then develop, in both thought and skill, to help make sense of the complexities of life. At this early stage of learning, we believe children are naturally conditioned to soak up information and ideas, so our aim is to expose students to foundational knowledge which will later become the structure that they build their logic upon.
