Welcome from the Head of Primary

Primary school is a key time in the lives of children. It is through these years that we see the formation of young hearts and minds and the instilling of key knowledge, understanding, virtue and a love for God’s truth that they will carry and build on throughout their lives. For this reason, it is important that we are intentional in what we are forming in our young students and the knowledge and understanding that they are gaining through their Primary School years.

As a Christian School in the Liberal Arts Tradition, we seek to form in our students early on, an understanding of what is good, true and beautiful. Through teacher-led instruction our students are engaged in rich learning that enables them to gain a greater understanding of God’s world, how it works and how we should interact with it, with others and with God. We desire to grow students who have a great love of literature, a broad understanding of history and God’s unfolding story, and who have a solid grasp of the fundamental aspects of reading, writing and numeracy.

We seek to continue to call students upward to high behaviour standards as this helps to form within them the character that is needed to live life well; honouring the Lord in the way we act in ourselves and towards others as we walk humbly with God.

In partnership with our students’ parents, we aim to develop the whole child, not just their mind, but who they are as a person. This development is not just the role of a school or a family, but rather a partnership with both school and home. We seek to grow not ‘happy’ students but rather ‘whole’ students who are able to approach the joys and challenges of life with the knowledge that our security is found in Christ, not circumstances or possessions. Our Primary School staff are committed to seeing our students grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and the world, with the foundation in His truth, and to walk more closely with Him. Each of our staff members are passionate about pursuing the goodness of God and walking in His truth themselves as they teach and instruct our students in their learning and interactions with others.

With an understanding that each of our lives are not simply for ourselves, we desire to fulfil the mission of the College to ‘provide a Christian education that will prepare students in spirit, soul and body to serve the Living God in today’s world’.

I love TCC and am deeply passionate about seeing our students grow in their learning and their walk with the Lord. It is an honour to have served the College community over many years, and to continue to do so as I lead the Primary School.
